Its irrelevant of whether you played the Mega Drive, this remake is visually stunning and it's retro style controls are smooth.Its a game which is easy to pick up, and difficult to master, but the challenge is fair.It's a game series that has been imitated here on steam previously, but with all due respect to those developers - they cant compare to playing this HD remake of the Mega Drive ( and hope one day we get the remastered version of Cybernator a.k.a Assault Suit Valken). Okay look, full disclosure, I have never played a Target Earth\/Assault Suits game in my life. This was my first foray. It's already made a great impression though. The storyline is rock solid, from what I've read up it's not been censored or altered from the original in any way so all the story is there and basically if you want a game that's very like MS Gundam (as in the original series, with Amuro Ray etc) with a largely hard tech feel and with a serious story that's rather more adult about war than you might expect, you really can't go far wrong with this.Gameplay is pretty solid too, controls are good, concise, easy to understand. There's some....minor niggles in aiming and such, and whilst a lot of people criticise the pad controls I've had little to no issues with it on a Dualshock 4 used natively through steam. I suppose my main complaint about the controls that I can think of is that it's very like an old Megadrive game (Genesis for you americans out there that might or might not even read this review), so there's a lot of quality of life features lacking of course. All in all though, it feels, plays and looks pretty alright.Honestly I do have some complaints about the pricing of the game, especially since in the time I've played it as of writing this review I got to what seems to be the final boss (who is kicking my\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665\u2665with a seemingly unavoidable attack so, you know, business as usual with an old megadrive game ported to newer systems instead of actually updated in any meaningful way aside from graphics and sound e_e;). If memory serves it comes in normally at about \u00a315 in English money. Getting this for \u00a36 ish was a fair bit more reasonable in my books, but I will give the game credit in that its soundtrack is pretty great, the game looks and feels good, and I have few complaints in general. I'm glad I got it. It's good fun!Give it a shot if you're also new to the series. Maybe check out some of the other games in the series too! (though obviously on other platforms. ^^; ). Cannot recommend it as a PC game.While the art is okay but even with some updated assets the style is very much showing it's age.Controls are not customize-able & are hard coded to a very awkward scheme. With out mouse aiming it still plays very much like trying to run a Playstation game on PC... things are just messy. The menu to quit the game is a VERY un-intuative P button... well away from any other controls & the game does not respond to the enter key... even when it says "push button". (It's left to the player to figure out which button.)Resolution control is handled poorly with the escape key changing the game to a windowed mode instead of bringing up a menu like most games would & pressing it a second time exits the game with out warning instead of reversing your last action like expected.Controls are presented with an Xbox game pad in the controls screen showing little effort to port it to PC; it's very obvious they want Xbox to be their main market along with all the other PC unfriendly things.Game runs smoothly but is a rather large size at 4.82 GB. There appears to be no way to gracefully quit the game being forced to use alt-f4 when in game.Over all the game shows it's age, is very much over priced for what you get & you'd be better off finding & purchasing any of the older american releases of this series; you'd be getting about the same product for a much more reasonable price.. nice non stop action game. A reimagining of one of my favorite Sega Genesis games, Target Earth. Plays best with a controller.. The game itself is good, but the gamepad functionality was mishandled by whoever did the porting. One controller resets the game with the press of a thumbstick, the other one does the same if I configure that gamepad to my preferred layout. Should the other games of the franchise make it onto Steam, I will ignore them based on how this game was handled thus far.Fix this, if you want my money for future games.. Resolution locked at 720p, interpolation works poorly, controllers have some bugs here and there...It is an amazing mecha game, and worth buying in a sale, but still needs more refinement ro get it at full price. Originally released on PS4 this remake of Assault Suit leynos delivers some pretty awesome mecha action taking place in a setting reminiscent of old anime from the 20th century.All things considered the game is pretty good,as one would expect from a creation of the passionate developers of Dracue Software.. Was really looking forward to this as I loved Cybernator on the SNES but the controls make this unplayable. You pick up your gamepad only to find none of the buttons seem to do anything apart from the left stick which resets the game! So you spend 10 minutes pressing random buttons on the keyboard to try and get it to a useable state. Then there's no rebinding so the default layout means it's a chore to play.
